Retriever Training

We are a boutique style Retriever Training Kennel-

We only accept 4 dogs per month for training, all dogs live indoors in our 5 ft by 5 foot air conditioned kennel room. Daily enrichment, small group play and more one on one training time separate us from the competition.

Our low pressure, balanced training techniques primarily rely on free shaping, producing a dog who chooses to perform the command, as opposed to a dog who does it because he was forced.

Basic Retriever Training Package- 4 Months

Advanced Obedience

A great gundog has to know how to walk at heel on or off leash, come back when called, sit stay and down stay. We teach 7 commands in 1 month, and ecollar condition your dog.

Force Fetch

Traditional force fetch relied upon high amounts of pressure to teach a dog how to hold something in his mouth without chewing or dropping it. Our multi step force fetch uses free shaping techniques to reduce force, producing many more successful dogs than previous methods.

Marking in the Field

We train at Black Label Kennels regularly, a 50 acre property designed for retriever training. During the field marking portion of training dogs will be introduced to singles at up to 100 yards and potentially even doubles and triples depending upon the stage of training that the dog is to complete.

Handling Training

Handling training is part of our Advanced Retriever package:

We offer force to pile, pattern blind drills and can prepare your dog for a career handling blind retrieves. Contact us regarding availability for this program.

Retriever Training is $1,300 per month

Because of our smaller class sizes, indoor kennels, and low pressure methods, we consider ourselves a boutique kennel. Our rates are higher than our competitors who may train 20-30 dogs a day. We think there's value in your dog being one of only four.
