Mobility Service Dogs

Stability

Dogs can lean into their owner and provide stability while walking or standing.

Assisted Position Changes

A dog can help a person move from a sitting to standing position by pulling them forwards.

Item Retrieval

We can train your dog to pick items up off of the ground on command, or to seek out specific items from across your home.

Independent living Aassistance

Your dog can be trained to open doors, push wheelchair buttons, open cabinets, turn lights on and off.

Carting or Pulling

Dogs can be trained to tow carts to assist you with carrying heavy objects, or pulling someone up a wheelchair ramp.

Emergency Assistance Tasks

We can train your dog to bark incase of a fall to signal that you need help, or to stay with and provide comfort for you until help arrives.

Service dogs can be trained to task for multiple functions, so you could combine some or all of these tasks with the tasks that you see listed for Psychiatric or Autism Service dogs as well.

Because much of a mobility dogs job is centered around counter balancing a person's weight, it is imperative that we choose a dog that will have the height, bone mass and proper muscling to do this without injuring or causing unnecessary joint wear and tear to the dog.  Some of the tasking listed here can be more difficult in nature, therefore for both reasons mentioned above, it is of the utmost importance that we choose the RIGHT dog for this job.  We highly encourage you to hire your trainer before you purchase your dog!
